Views are just guuuuhhhhhhh awesome
Car camped here – popped a tent. Was tough ground and very windy but SO WORTH IT. The views are just guuuuhhhhhhh awesome. Mt Cook as a backdrop to unbelievably blue water. In summer, the sun heats up the boulders lining Lake Pukaki so you can jump in the chilly glacial waters, have a shower with some Dr. Bronner’s soap, and then warm up by lying on the boulders like a natural spa. *bliss* Oh, and the *stars!* This is situated an international “dark reserve”- best star gazing in all of NZ and one of the top 3 gold star dark reserves in the world. Dynamite camping overall. Only other con was I heard the drop toilet here is pretty gross so I just never used it. Went to Twizel or Tekapo for my bathroom needs.
